Before I decided to write any Lexington Law reviews, I ran into some serious financial problems. The biggest issue that I had was that I was not really sure how to deal with money. I was just getting out of college, and I did not have any experience working with my own finances. My parents had always paid for everything, from my car to my living expenses. I had worked a little bit, but that was just so that I could have some extra spending money when I wanted to go out with my friends on the weekends. I had never done anything serious.
When I got out of college, I got my first real job. All of a sudden, I felt like I had almost unlimited money. Now, that is a fairly humorous thought. I did not have that much at all. While working in college, though, I was getting something like seven dollars an hour, and some weeks I would only work for ten hours. Compared to that, I had a ton of money, and I sort of let it get out of control.
I started buying everything I wanted. I got a new car. I bought new furniture. I rented an apartment that was at the top of my budget. I picked up a new 50 inch television. If there was something that I wanted, I bought it. It really was that easy for me at first. The problem was that I was racking up a lot of debt on credit cards and in loans. Combined with my student loans, I did not have nearly enough money to pay for it all. My credit tanked, I lost my car, and I could not get any more loans or credit cards.
Thankfully, this was a wakeup call for me. I stopped spending money on so many things that I did not need. I started buying just the essentials. Slowly, I was able to pay off my debt and to start making money again. I got some no-credit-check credit cards and then paid them off, which helped to fix my credit score. In short, I was able to change my life and take control of my finances again. I am glad that I got this wake-up call so early on in life because it could have been much worse if it had happened to me a few years later.
